I’m often asked for outfit ideas when I book a boudoir shoot with a new client, so I thought I would start a little blog series and occasionally post up some style boards to help with choosing what to wear for your photo session. I tell all of my clients that there is truly no wrong way to dress up for a boudoir session. There are no hard and fast rules for what you can and cannot wear, but there are certainly styles that will be more flattering for your individual body type, and can create a theme for your session. Look around, google ideas, go through our past portfolio, and be creative! If you have an idea but you’ve never seen it done before – awesome! E-mail me and tell me about it, and we can talk about how to work your ideas into your photos.
Check out some of these outfits to give your creativity a kickstart!

A full coverage corset can be great for moms or ladies who are self-conscious about the tummy region. Pair it with some chunky jewelry (no necklace if your neckline is elaborate), some high high heels (important!) and maybe even a garter belt with some stockings, and you’ve got an awesome look! Ladies who are self conscious about their thighs should avoid this look, as the cinching at the top of the stockings and the length of the corset can accentuate your leg shape.

A short pleated skirt can look adorable when paired with a brightly-colored bra, fun heels, and, as always chunky chunky jewelry! This look is great for ladies who might not be comfortable showing too much of their lower bodies for the camera.
Chemises can be found in an endless array of styles and colors and can jazz up a simple bra and panty set. Here’s a little tip: opt for a simple strapless bra when wearing a chemise to avoid additional straps pressing into your shoulders. A pair of sexy, strappy high heel sandals is the perfect finish to this very classic look.

Did you know that an outfit as simple as a pair of pajama pants with a fitted knit tank top can create some of the sexiest images? It’s likely that this is an outfit already in the closets of most women, and while fancy corsets and nighties can be fun, looking like yourself can be the sexiest style on the planet in the eyes of your husband or boyfriend. Nix the jewelry and the shoes for an even more “ready for bed” look, and wear your hair down and slightly tousled. An alternative to the knit tank is an unbuttoned white shirt (no bra – but we’ll keep the images tasteful!)

In this neck of the woods, cowgirls will always be a popular look. Start with a pair of ultra-short weathered jean cut-offs and pair it with a gingham bikini. Bandeau style tops are cute and great for girls with larger chests. Leave the shorts unbuttoned for a glimpse of the bikini bottoms, and finish the look with a crinkled cowgirl hat and, of course, a pair of boots.
